Youth urged to embrace agroindustry

Minister of Youth and ICT, Honorable Jean Philbert Nsengimana asks young Rwandans to embrace agribusiness as there are still many unexploited opportunities. Minister Nsengimana was addressing hundreds of young male and female who attended “Youth in Agribusiness festival” organized by Agri-ProFocus, University of Rwanda-College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine and Rural development initiative last week.  “There are lots of opportunities in Agribusiness which are not exploited. Let us engage together in this business,” said Minister Nsengimana. He went on asking youth to use ICT in Agriculture in order to earn more from it, and engage in post harvesting and harvest transformation as well. Young Rwandans who are already engaged in Agroindustry testify that they are numerous opportunity in the very business. Hervé Tuyishime, the owner of meat processing company reveals that he started his business in 2012 after completing his studies. “I faced profit and loss as well but I persevered. Nowadays I have 15 employees and more than 300,000 customers,” declared Tuyishime. Tuyishime says that he started with a business idea and got a loan via Hangumurimo program. While many young people claim not having jobs, Tuyishime is proud of not seeking job but employing his fellows.
