On this Tuesday 16 July 2019, while delivering her opening remarks for a three-day GSMA Mobile 360 Africa summit, Minister Paula Ingabire emphasized on the importance of mutual collaboration amongst African Countries for a digitally connected continent.

Themed “Rise of Digital citizen”; the summit has brought together tech experts including business leaders, decision-makers, policy makers, and regulators, to chart way towards Africa’s Digital Citizenship. The experts convene in Kigali to discuss various innovations that will make Africa a digitally connected continent.

“There is need for us as African governments to collaborate and ensure integration of the continent’s digital technologies for accelerated transformation, and that will require us to work together to establish the right parameters that will ease and accelerate this agenda, eliminate barriers to cross-border trade and lift bureaucratic processes that are hindering this agenda from coming to realization.” Said Minister Ingabire.

“To achieve this desire and ambition as a continent, Africa needs to be deliberate in investing in Research and Development, creating the necessary conditions for progress as well as championing industrial development and innovations but most importantly creating the necessary skills.” Minister Paula added.

On the sidelines of the Summit, mobile network operators, MTN Rwanda and Airtel Rwanda, have entered partnership to launch “We Care”, an initiative aimed at driving the fast uptake and adoption of internet in Rwanda.
