MINICT AND ITS AFFILIATED AGENCIES COMMEMORATE FOR THE 27th TIME THE 1994 GENOCIDE AGAINST TUTSI.
On this Friday; 25th June 2021, The Ministry of ICT and Innovation with our affiliated agencies and closer stakeholders: RISA, NIDA, Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Rwanda, Rwanda Space Agency, NCSA, Iposita, and RURA, we organized a session to commemorate for the 27th time the Genocide Against Tutsi, in particular, the twenty-six (26) Iposta staff who were killed because they were Tutsi.
Mr. Niyongira Emmanuel, a genocide survivor and former staff of Iposta gave his testimony, which focused on the discrimination at the workplace faced by some iposta staff due to being Tutsis.
Mr. Ruzindaza Jean; the Director of the Unit of Advocacy for survivors within the CNLG gave a talk on the role of the media in the Genocide against the Tutsi, and reminded the media industry to care about the language they use on the pretext that they have freedom of the press.
MINICT’s Permanent Secretary; Mr. Yves Iradukunda spoke on the use of technology, especially social media, in denigrating the Genocide against the Tutsi, he reminded that it is the responsibility of those in the sector of ICT to ensure that these sites are used properly to provide accurate information on the history of the country.
