Government of Rwanda and Government of Korea ink an MoU of Cooperation in ICT

Minister Nsengimana called on youth to use their strength contributing to the development.

Today, on June 2nd, 2016, the Government of Rwanda through the Ministry of Youth and ICT and the Government of Korea through National Information Society Agency (NIA) signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in the Area of Information and Communication Technology.

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, the Minister for Youth and ICT, Honorable Jean Philbert Nsengimana said: “The Government of Rwanda is establishing the Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA) as an ICT implementing agency. NIA will contribute in its establishment by bringing its experience, expertise and technology”.

NIA will assist in the establishment of a Tech Innovation Hub and World Friends IT Volunteers program to improve education and training in ICT, and share implementation policy and regulatory know-how for ICT development as well.

“I would like to express our commitment to support Rwanda’s ICT development with all the technology and know-how we possess, based on partnership cooperation channel between Korea and Rwanda,” said Byung-jo Suh, President of NIA.

NIA vowed to work to make successful knowledge and technology sharing experience with Rwanda into a model for expanding cooperation with other African countries.
