Minister of Youth and ICT, Honorable Jean Philbert Nsengimana calls upon all parents to be at the forefront in the fight against drug abuse among youths to build a better future. He was addressing thousands of youths, parents and partners yesterday, August 26th, 2016 at Iwawa rehabilitation and Vocational skills development Centre’s 10th graduation ceremony.   Minister Nsengimana said that some parents don’t take care of their children properly which push them to become street children, drug users and other bad habits, one of the ways leading to Iwawa rehabilitation and Vocational skills development Centre (IRVSDC) for rehabilitation sessions and vocational trainings. “We should join our efforts to fight drug abuse and anything harmful to our youths but parents should be at the front,” declared Minister Nsengimana. Pastor Ruhaya, parents’ representative, said that parents no longer treat every child like theirs which ends in drug abuse amidst youths. He backed the idea of Minister Nsengimana affirming that if all parents join efforts to fight against drug dealers and abuse would win the battle and save their children. Martin Kayitsinga, one of the 870 graduates in carpentry, tailoring and construction revealed that he ended his secondary schools but failed to go to higher learning institution due to drug abuse. “Now that we have known the consequences of drug abuse. We are committed to play our role in the fight against drug dealers, providing timely information to security organs,” affirmed Kayitsinga speaking on behalf of all graduates.        So far, more than 8,000 youths have been graduated at IRVSDC since its inception.
